Time zone quirks around the world that travellers may not know about

Nepal: UTC+5:45

Nepal is 45 minutes ahead of India, which uses UTC+5:30. This unusual offset means that even neighbouring countries can differ by just 15 minutes from a full hour.

India uses one official time zone across a vast country. When it is noon in Mumbai, it is also noon by the clock in far-eastern India, despite the substantial difference in local sunrise and sunset times.
